Training and consulting

Over the years, there has been no shortage of detours or shortcuts to lead me time and again to teaching and adult education. It would be an exaggeration to say that it has been vocational; rather, it has been due to often fortunate circumstances.

In a “previous life,” I was a trainer in Human Resources for an audience of unemployed people and executives. Afterward, I went on to lead classes and workshops on cinema in different countries (Spain, Portugal, France, United States, Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, and Panama) and for diverse audiences, from high school students to film professionals, including film students and indigenous people accustomed to directing documentaries who wished to write fiction.

As an example, from 2008 onward, I taught film classes to more than three thousand students at the French Lyceum in Madrid, on about fifteen different subjects, and collaborated with almost forty teachers.

On more than one occasion, I have led workshops on writing or rewriting screenplays, and Proimágenes of Colombia has proposed that I be an international script tutor for four projects rewarded in 2014 by the FDC (Film Development Fund). In this case, the work consists of advising the screenwriters so that they discover what story they really want and can tell, that they choose a personal dramatic form and enhance it. And over the years I have read hundreds of feature film scripts.

With regard to the coordination of cultural activities, I will say that I designed the retrospective dedicated to Spanish cinema at the Premiers Plans festival in Angers, a cycle of 25 films at the Museum of Modern Art in Bogotá on screenwriting, and a cycle of 50 films on melancholy at the Spanish Film Archive.
