Synopsis

Ramón Vinyes (1882-1952) was a writer, professor, bookseller, and mentor to artists, including the young Gabriel García Márquez, who paid tribute to him through the character of the "wise Catalan" in One Hundred Years of Solitude. He felt divided between Colombia, where he lived for 25 years, and Catalonia, which denied him recognition. While the Spanish Civil War, World War II, and the Bogotazo in Colombia were crumbling his world, his lucidity as a witness of his time was weakened by melancholy. We delve into the artist's privacy through scenes filmed in Catalonia and Colombia, interviews, official archive footage, and amateur film.
